BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR FULFILMENT CENTRES

Spark Response was founded in 1982 as a specialist in direct mail fulfilment. Over the next two decades, our business evolved in a fast-growing industry that saw traditional catalogue home shopping replaced almost completely by eCommerce.

We implemented our first eCommerce order management system in 2000 and emerged as a leading provider of outsourced fulfilment services in the UK, working with some of the country's best-known brands.


LOCATION - "THE HOME OF INTERNET HOME SHOPPING"

Based in Gateshead, just off the A1 and A19, Spark has been providing fulfilment services to the eCommerce market since it became ‘the way forward’ in the late 1990s. Interestingly, we recently discovered that apparently the world’s first recorded internet home shopping order was from a 72-year-old lady from Gateshead, Mrs Snowball, who placed an order with Tesco online in 1984 and history was made. PEOPLE

We currently employ around 200 people across our contact centres, fulfilment centres and offices. This figure doubles at our seasonal peaks. We're a dedicated investor in people and can boast average staff tenure levels of six years across our business. (read more and meet the management team)
