Three members of staff at Spark are celebrating Christmas in style today. Between them, they are taking home £2,750 after being recognised by a scheme which rewards continued hard work and dedication.

The Reward & Recognition initiative was launched in 2006 to give something back to staff who go above and beyond what’s expected of them and since then has given away over £22,000 in prizes.

The scheme works by a nominations and points system and culminates in a prize draw every December. This year’s lucky winners were partner support manager Lauren Kane, customer service advisor Brian Smith and carrier service administrator Anna Kozak. A further four quarterly winners each received £100 as the year’s Quarterly Heroes in March, June, September and December.

Lauren said: “I was in shock. I didn’t even realise it was me on screen at first. Me and my husband are going to take my niece to Disneyland.” Brian added: “It was a great feeling to be awarded the money. I am thinking of using it for a family holiday.” Anna said: “I am studying Logistics Management in Poland and have exams soon, so the money will help with flight costs.”

Managing Director Peter Slee said: “The R&R scheme enables us to let staff know how much we appreciate their hard work, and that initiative and dedication are valued and rewarded. The scheme is quite unique and I believe it plays a key role in creating loyalty and building a real sense of community and a positive culture throughout the business. And although the draw winners are chosen at random, it’s important that we remind the team why the entrants are included and of the importance of nominating their colleagues for great work.”

The R&R initiative was a major factor in Spark Response picking up the Large Business accolade at the 2012 Service Network Culture for Success Awards and was mentioned during the judge’s speech.
