Spark Raises £5,800 for Marie Curie & St. Benedict’s Hospice

Spark Response employees have raised a total of £5,800 for charity, which was split equally between Marie Curie Cancer Care and St. Benedict’s Hospice.  From bake sales to raffles, all Spark employees have done an amazing job to raise this large amount of money for such an important cause.  We would also like to thank our clients, who were also very generous by giving some of their stock for sales and raffles.  Both charities sent a representative to collect their cheques on the 3rd May and wanted to express their gratitude to everyone who participated in fundraising.

Both charities fund local hospices and their representatives explained how special their sites are, as they provide support for both patients and family.  A perfect example of how amazing these hospices are was explained by Catrina Flynn (St. Benedict’s representative).  Catrina explained that one morning one of the hospice patients mentioned how fabulous it would be to see a reindeer in the garden as it was so close to Christmas, and woke up to a reindeer in his room the following day!

Although we will be fundraising for two new charities this year, both Marie Curie and St.  Benedict’s Hospice rely on mainly volunteers to run their hospices.  If you are interested in volunteering you can visit or to get involved!

How Will Our Contribution Help?

St. Benedict’s Hospice estimate that it costs around £600 per day to stay at their hospice, which includes all transport, nursing costs, food and family support.  This means that our donation of £2,900 will fund nearly 5 full days of care for a patient and support for their family.  Marie Curie pay £20 an hour for nursing care, so our donation of £2,900 will fund 145 hours of nursing care and bereavement support.
